(a)Sprinkler systems shall be maintained in operative condition, free from mechanical damage, structural failure, water failure or obstruction during the period that the buildings are occupied.
(b)Sprinkler systems shall be inspected by a competent person satisfactory to the department. Such inspection shall be made at least once every three months during the period that the buildings are occupied and within one week prior to the resumption of occupancy after the buildings have been vacant for a period exceeding one month. Such person shall be responsible for the making of all tests to see that all parts of the system are in good repair and working order. A detailed record of each inspection shall be kept, and records shall be open to examination by the department.
